This course is designed for Daycare, Childcare, and K-12 teachers and staff. It trains participants to promptly recognize and respond to emergency situations involving patients of any age, from infants to the elderly. This course covers CPR/AED for all ages and emergency first aid for infants and children.
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.
The HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) program is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in high-quality CPR skills and teamwork for the adult, child, and infant.
HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and it conforms with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the annual Guidelines Update.
The intended audience is individuals who are healthcare providers (in and out of hospital), public safety professionals in a variety of occupational settings, or individuals enrolled in healthcare and public safety career training programs who require BLS training.
CPR for Friends and Family is for people who want to learn CPR but do not require a certification card for employment or licensing. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.
A certificate of completion will be provided for this course, but it is not a formal certification for specific job requirements. This is the most popular option for non-health industry workplaces and babysitters.
The new Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from ASHI gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, the magazine-format CABS guide and vlogger-style video make learning fun.
This course is perfect for teens and young adults interested in a babysitting business, or who have responsibility for younger family members. There are no prerequisites, however, CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certification strongly recommended.
The recommended age group for this course is 11-15 but all ages are welcome.
